ABOUT CRYPTOCRAFT

Cryptocraft Ltd was founded in 2012 by Matthew Dodd. Matthew graduated in 1985 from Oxford University with a first class honours degree in mathematics, and in 1986 completed Part III of the Mathematics Tripos at Cambridge University. In 2003 he was awarded a Ph.D. from the University of London.

After leaving Cambridge, he joined Racal-Comsec Ltd, a commercial manufacturer of communications security equipment, latterly heading their mathematics department. There he was responsible, amongst other things, for designing and evaluating cryptosystems for the company’s wide range of communications security equipment.

In 1995, he became a self-employed consultant, and since then has provided expertise in the design and evaluation of cryptographic systems and their implementation to many of national and international companies, as well as providing training courses in cryptography for customers around the world.

He was a participant in the European Commission eSTREAM project, collaborating with Steve Babbage to design an algorithm, MICKEY, which was selected from 34 submissions to be one of the 7 algorithms in the final portfolio.

Since 2013 he has run the Advanced Cryptography module in the M.Sc. in Information Security by Distance Learning at Royal Holloway, University of London.
